Things are moving in the drinks department! Organic brands are constantly developing unexpected recipes with increasingly original and delicious ingredients. A far cry from excessively sweet soft drinks, we are seeing a wave of imaginative blends, fermented beverages and alcohol-free spirits, which can be discovered at Natexpo.
Brasserie La Comédienne has come up with a surprising beer/wine hybrid, called “grape ale”, which is a blend of a cereal must and a natural Grenache must from the Purviti wine estate in Beaumes de Venise.
For other unexpected ingredients, Provence Factoriz proposes its drink, Orizon, made entirely from organic rice from Camargue and inspired by traditional Japanese sake. It’s sugar-free, gluten-free and sulphite-free and is available in three flavours.
As for spirits, the Vivant brand is France’s first 100% organic spirits company, founded in Charente with the aim of making high-end, organic and socially responsible products. A shout out for the origin of their raw materials: the brand is developing its own agricultural supply chain, largely based in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, which already provides the barley for their whiskies and the aromatics for their gins.
Jardins, manufacturer of exceptional organic, French, alcohol-free and low-sugar aperitifs, also proposes original products, such as Bulles de Jardins white grape & fresh walnut, a sparkling beverage with amber and fermented notes reminiscent of Jura wines and a perfect match for mature cheeses.
Sparkteez made a sensation by winning the Gold Natexpo Award in 2022 in the Beverages category. This year, the company is launching Sparteez Rosé, an alcohol-free sparkling wine with the benefits of tea and hibiscus flower.
The virtues of fermentation for the microbiota now a well-established fact, and Jubiles proposes an organic and artisanal kombucha focusing on a fair and sustainable approach. Lökki Les Eleveurs de Bulles proposes a wide range of live and fermented drinks, such as fruit kefir and ginger beer.
In terms of launches, Labo du Moulin will be unveiling its “Morning Routine”: lacto-fermented boost and detox shots to fill up on nutrients without worrying about sugar. One dose in the morning provides 50% of the recommended daily intake of fibre and 10% of vitamin C. Another product of note is their new unpasteurised kefir in a can , rich in micro-organisms that are beneficial to the microbiota.
On the international scene, Spanish brand Refix Seawater Hydration makes its arrival on the 100% natural recovery drink market with Refix Coconut & Pineapple, made with pure seawater, winner of the 2024 Natexpo Awards in the Beverages category.
German brand Voelkel proposes its new, lightly sparkling mandarin and chilli kombucha.
