Following the success of its 2019 Paris edition, NATEXPO returns on September 21 and 22 at Eurexpo Lyon. In the fall, all French and international organic professionals will meet at this event, dedicated to discovering the latest global news in a booming sector. In 2019, in France, the food portion of this market is expected to pass the €10 billion mark. In 2018, consumer purchases were €9,7 billion, up +15,7% compared to 2017.
A perfect reflection of this spectacular vitality, NATEXPO has now, and since 2017, taken place every year to keep pace with the sustained growth of the sector. NATEXPO 2020 is looking promising: 12,000 visitors and 850 exhibitors are expected, an increase of +25% compared to the previous – and first! – edition in Lyon in 2018.
Eight months before the show opens, the space reserved by professionals has already increased by +17% compared to the same period in 2018. The Cosmetics & Hygiene, Home and Personal Products & Services, and Services & Equipment for stores and brands sectors already represent the same space as in 2018. Market players are clearly showing their desire to increase their exhibition spaces, predicting a significant increase in the total surface area of the show (20,000 m2 in 2020).

An eco-committed trade fair
For many years, NATEXPO has been implementing initiatives aligned with the values of the organic sector; these commitments to respecting the environment and reducing the ecological footprint are fundamental values in the organization of this event. It is essential to preserve nature by favoring eco-responsible attitudes from the planning to the execution of the show.
In this approach, various actions are implemented:
- Waste management (selective collection during assembly and dismantling periods but also during the show)
- The cleaning equipment used during the show is made up of ecological cleaning products.
- 90% of the show's signage is made of cardboard
- Eco-friendly stand layouts, with low-energy lighting, recycled carpets, and partitions made from PEFC-certified and reusable materials. In 2020, carpeting will no longer be present in the aisles.
- Communication entirely printed on recycled paper or paper from sustainably managed forests
- Carpooling is encouraged via the show's website
- A Zero Waste commitment with the Red Cross: volunteer teams mobilize at the end of the show to collect food, in agreement with the exhibitors. In 2019, more than 8 tons were collected
The Eurexpo Lyon site, where this edition of NATEXPO is taking place, has also been involved for several years in an environmentally friendly approach, notably through the ISO 14001 standard, and is currently working on improving waste sorting, optimizing water and energy consumption, limiting CO2 emissions and offering responsible catering.
