Today, the majority of innovations in the beauty sector are linked to naturalness. Indeed, in cosmetics as in other fields, consumers expect products that are increasingly respectful of the environment and their health. The organic and natural cosmetics market is booming and reached a turnover of 11 billion euros worldwide in 2018. And the phenomenon is not about to stop: according to estimates, it should exceed 5 billion in turnover in Europe by 2023. A driving force in the field, France ranks 3e in the global ranking of the organic cosmetics market in 2019.

A true reflection of this spectacular growth, the Cosmetics & Hygiene sector will be widely represented at Natexpo 2020, the international trade fair for organic products, which takes place this year on September 21 and 22 at Eurexpo Lyon. Six months before its opening, more than sixty companies in the sector have already registered, resulting in a growth of + 16% in the area dedicated to this sector compared to the previous edition in Lyon in 2018. The 12,000 expected visitors will have the opportunity to interact with the many players in the sector present during these two days and to discover their innovations, particularly concerning bulk and zero waste.

Bulk organic cosmetics: a growing trend

Among the new solutions offered in the Cosmetics & Hygiene sector: bulk, which reduces packaging and offers a new eco-friendly shopping experience.

Initiatives around bulk are multiplying: companies now offer innovative distribution systems for all liquids in the hygiene and cosmetics sector: cream, shampoo, shower gel, etc. Finally, it is also possible to completely reduce potential waste, like Savonnerie du Midi, which will present its famous packaging-free Marseille soap during the Show.

Natexpo will also be an opportunity to discover the young company Cozie, which is reinventing the experience of beauty product distribution by offering liquid, organic, and zero-waste cosmetics, thanks to a deposit system and a bulk machine to sell its products. The co-founder of Cozie, winner of the Natexbio Challenge 2019, talks about his evolution thanks to Natexpo: " It's a great opportunity, because as a young company (…) this show is a great accelerator for making ourselves known and demonstrating our bulk machines. The impact was, and still is, enormous: our reputation in the organic world was boosted thanks to Natexpo. »

Zero waste in cosmetics: innovations to go all the way...

This year's show is focusing on zero waste. Cosmetic packaging is being redesigned to avoid waste. Several solutions are being considered, such as "smart sizing," which involves creating smaller containers that make it easier to finish the product before its expiration date.

Other companies are focusing on a new challenge: using the last milliliters of a product with designs that allow the bottle or jar to be completely emptied.

This is the project that Clever Beauty will be presenting at Natexpo, thanks to its anti-waste nail polish. The bottle is equipped with a cap that allows you to finish the entire product with a simple click.

Meet us at the cosmetic innovations forum

In partnership with Cosmebio, a professional association for ecological and organic cosmetics, Natexpo offers each year a space entirely dedicated to beauty and well-being: the Cosmetic Innovations Forum.

Industry professionals will be invited to attend conferences hosted by Cosmebio and will also be able to participate in workshops, test products and even be pampered.
