Description
The “épi barré” logo is a registered trademark recognized in France and internationally for all those who follow a gluten-free diet. It is the benchmark for gluten-free products. It is the assurance of quality recognition for manufacturers and distributors that consumers necessarily favor.
Present on the packaging of food sold commercially, the “épi barré” logo means that the product is gluten-free (that is to say that it has a residual gluten content of less than 20 mg / kg ). This is the added value for all players in the sector.
The consumption of gluten-free products is constantly changing. At the end of 2017, the market in France is estimated at 60 million euros with a constant increase of around 20% over the past five years. Globally, the research firm Xerfi considers that it could reach 3 billion euros at the end of 2020.
Owned by the Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS), the “épi barré” logo is issued in France by AFDIAG SASU. It establishes license contracts for companies domiciled in France. This contract authorizes the exclusive marketing of products carrying the “épi barré” in the European area. This contract is a guarantee for manufacturers to join the closed circle of manufacturing and distribution of gluten-free products that consumers prefer.
