BioED, the CSR label for committed organic companies, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. In just a decade, BioED has certified the initiatives of 70 agri-food companies and continues to grow, while expanding its scope to include cosmetics companies and, very soon, specialty retailers.

10 years ago now, the Synabio, a union of organic agri-food companies, has created this label to enable its members to go beyond organic specifications by integrating sustainable development into the heart of their strategy and promoting their good practices!

A decade of excellence and commitment

Since its creation in 2014, BioED has certified nearly 70 agri-food companies, allowing them to go beyond the expectations of organic specifications! And it doesn't stop there: the label recently opened a new standard specific to cosmetics, in partnership with Cosmebio, to enable organic cosmetics companies to be certified. The Nature et Stratégie group is the first cosmetics company to obtain certification in 2023.

It is now the turn of organic stores to get involved in the process: a partnership has been established between the SYNADIS BIO and SYNABIO to roll out the BioED label to the network of specialized distributionThe first test audits should take place in the fall of 2024. Thus, the entire organic sector will be able to join the BioED community!

A poster campaign for a great label

On the occasion of Sustainable Development Week (from September 18 to October 8) and the 10th anniversary of the label, a poster campaign will be visible at Naturalia et The Vie Claire , two iconic brands in the organic sector. This campaign will show that, like the most iconic superheroes, the BioED label operates in the shadows, since it does not appear on any product. Consumers are therefore unaware of it, and yet it allows the companies involved to structure themselves and improve sustainably. On average, BioED companies:

  • Recycle 80% of their waste
  • Place 80% of 100% recyclable packaging on the market
  • Have 47% women in the governing bodies.

These figures are encouraging and we can see that there is still plenty of room for improvement for these companies committed to a process of continuous improvement!

Why do companies choose BioED over other labels? BioEDs share their experiences!

For nearly 25 years, Les Jardins de Gaïa has been a company whose social, societal, environmental, and economic commitment is essential. Implementing a clearly defined CSR approach will allow us to sustain the company within a structured medium- and long-term framework that takes into account the various pillars of CSR. We have chosen Bioentreprisedurable®, a clear standard that addresses our concerns because it is suited to companies of our size and sector of activity. Arlette Rohmer, Founder and Manager of the Jardins de Gaïa

Today, BioBleud is experiencing strong growth; the team is expanding and renewing itself. At this stage in our history, it seemed very important to us to formalize our CSR policy and structure it around our roots in order to meet the expectations of our stakeholders. It's a great way to not lose our soul along the way, to transmit and perpetuate our values, and to set a coherent and innovative course for the company. The BioED framework corresponds well to our company's needs in this area. It's also a great tool for team cohesion and continuous improvement, a way to remain a pioneer.
