“Dual Fair and Organic certification as a lever for the ecological transition of production and processing methods in West Africa: examples and testimony from partner cooperatives of the Equity Program”
With Mr. Pierre DUBUIT, “Producer Organization and Market” Program Manager for the NGO Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders (AVSF), Mr. Fulbert DAGO, Deputy Head of the Sub-Regional Equity Program for AVSF, based in Abidjan (who will be at the show), Mr. Camille ABOU OI ABOU, President of the Mawoubé Agricultural Cooperative of Yèrèyèrè located in the Abengourou region of Ivory Coast (who will be at the show).
After a contextual introduction on the growing dynamics of the dual certification of Organic Agriculture and Fair Trade, the concrete results obtained by the West African cooperatives partners of AVSF within the framework of the sub-regional Equity Program will be presented around 4 themes:
• Protection and restoration of natural ecosystems (example of Shea parks)
• Agroecological transition of cocoa cultivation systems
• Transformation, energy efficiency and management of agri-food residues
• Socio-economic impacts of certifications
Finally, the testimony of a manager of an Ivorian cocoa cooperative certified Fairtrade and AB will provide concrete illustrations and details on how AVSF's support within the framework of the same Program has made it possible to initiate an agroecological transition of cocoa farmers' cultivation systems.
