Can you tell us a bit about yourself: who are you, where do you come from, what do you do?
I am Head of the Certification Programme for Ecocert France. My role, and that of my team, is to gather regulatory information as early as possible and pass it on to our teams and customers.
I have also been Chair of CEBIO since 2022: it brings together all the approved and accredited certifying bodies in France. The association was founded 22 years ago.
Wearing these two hats, I am very often in contact with the French authorities to share our vision of control and certification and defend coherent organic farming that adheres to high standards.
The future is starting to look a little brighter for the organic sector. What does the situation look from your perspective?
It is indeed extremely welcome news to see signs of consumer spending picking up again. As regards certifying bodies, we are not currently seeing a stronger trend in applications, but I imagine that the figures will gradually start to rise again as soon as demand feeds through to the production chains.
What are CEBIO’s projects to support the sector?
CEBIO is committed to guaranteeing high standards in organic labelling and the credibility of its certification. In this respect, we play an essential role in streamlining practices and in the credibility of our guarantees in the French organic sector. This collaboration makes it possible to defend the interests of organic in association with the authorities, by harmonising standards and offering a powerful collective voice with regard to regulatory and institutional matters. Through our membership of the Maison de la Bio, we also support the main strategic orientations of the sector, while putting our weight behind the initiatives that promote its development.
What are you expecting from the next edition of Natexpo in 2025?
Opportunities to meet our customers and partners, but also conviviality and idea sharing among the French organic ecosystem. I can feel that this ecosystem is as vibrant and mobilised as it’s ever been, which is good to see!
What’s your everyday organic reflex?
I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago, and now every morning when I get up, I drink a large cup of organic chicory coffee!
