Micro Trend No. 1: From zero waste to the coronation of upcycling

The era of recycling, reusability, and biodegradability is replacing that of disposables in a world of finite resources. The zero-waste trend is revitalizing consumption in general and organic consumption in particular.

Circularity is becoming the norm, or rather a way of life. A virtuous circle in which brands and individuals alike are the artisans, giving second lives to products and new opportunities to 'waste'.

Not just recycling, but enhancing it—that's the definition of upcycling. Waste and by-products are recycled rather than thrown away, becoming valuable raw materials for products and packaging. A wonderful future awaits—no more throwing away!

The proof in products:

  1. Aperitif Biscuit, the anti-waste aperitif, made from unsold bread powder, which gives it a crispy taste, for example In Extremis, stand I78.
  2. Fruit dessert of the moment, a changing and delicious recipe, made with surplus from organic & local farmers each season, by The babies next door, stand F91.
  3. Barbecued Artisanal Amazon Nuts and Caramelized Artisanal Amazon Nuts, result of an upcycling process: each nut damaged during shelling is upcycled: recut by hand then caramelized with French sugar or roasted with BBQ spices, by Natural Andes, stand I'151.
  4. Ah!Table!® Bioplastic 6-Egg Carton, reusable, durable, washable, by Ecodis, stand J08.
  5. Scented candle refill, eco-designed product with reusable wooden cover, for infinite use, by Esteban, stand L51.

Micro Trend No. 2: Solid, the standard for all sectors

The solid cosmetics boom is immense and is revolutionizing the hygiene and beauty segments. In 2021, solid cosmetics revenue reached €85 million, down from 2020 but up 14% from 2019.[I].

Solids are the must-have and all brands, organic or not, are trying them.

Without water and therefore without preservatives, lighter, more concentrated and smaller, solid products are becoming standard in all categories (toothpaste, dishwashing liquid, perfume, shampoo, etc.). Everyone is won over by this new, smaller format, which is also good for the environment.

The proof in products:

  1. Solid Micellar Jelly, by Dermatherm, stand G18.
  2. Solid dish soap with coconut oil, by As Before, stand L39.
  3. Solid perfume-care, by Oléanat, stand G15.
  4. Chewable Toothpaste – Arvensis Mint, by Lamazuna, stand J10.
  5. Frescoryl - Anhydrous mint toothpaste, by CED Nature, stand K38.
  6. Solid dishes due to a Solid!, stand 176.

Micro Trend #3: Dilution Revolution

It's the next solid! The same advantages (weight, price, performance) with new gestures and new sensorialities...dilution through powders, tablets, or even drops, is the royal road to innovation.

Beyond the texture, the dilution is synonymous with true innovation because it goes hand in hand with the refill system, which further limits our carbon and plastic footprints. Further proof of the advent of ecology-pedagogy, which combines sensoriality and sustainability.

The proof in products:

  1. Dispenser for refills to dilute for the hygiene and shine of the bathroom, by Etamine du Lys, stand I11.
  2. Sublimating mask, in powder to dilute to obtain a hair mask, by Powder, stand K5.
  3. Facial Cleansing Powder, which transforms into a light and creamy foam on contact with water, by Perlucine, stand K18.
  4. Epur, powders to dilute for household hygiene (multi-surface, descaling, degreasing), by Chembo Bevil, stand J59.
  5. Natural toothpaste with organic mint crystals, eco-responsible powder that transforms into gel toothpaste on contact with water, by Druydès, stand K49.
  6. My Shampoo Refill, in tablets to dilute, by Anotherway, stand J61.
